So I am sure you have seen me and other advocates in black and white pictures stating “wematterACOG” on it. Now while some of you may understand the cause, I am here to state some facts. Because caring is sharing right! The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (better known as ACOG) is a non-profit organization that consists of physicians whose main goal is “dedicated to the improvement of women’s health.” – as I quote ACOG. According to ACOG, their vision is to “provide the highest quality education worldwide, continuously improve health care for women through practice and research, lead advocacy for women’s health care issues nationally and internationally, and provide excellent organizational support and services for our members.” (taken from acog.org).

So here’s one thing to think about. If go to the physicians that are apart of ACOG, and as patients we are seeking their help, why do we find ourselves back in their office rather quickly after an endometrial surgery? Why are they suggesting yet another surgery, when they just performed one? And why are we left even more confused than our initial visit from them? I’m sure you’re reading this you’re like wait April I have thought/asked this. If that is your sentiment, then this is why we feel so strongly about letting ACOG that WE MATTER! This is why April 5th and 6th advocates will be at ACOG headquarters in Washington D.C. All we are asking is for ACOG to bring up their diagnosis and treatment guidelines so that it can match the clinically proven facts and information on how to properly care for someone with endometriosis.

Your symptoms are not the norm and definitely not something only you are just thinking. These are real life symptoms that we are faced with daily! Click To Tweet

Update your negligent endometriosis diagnostic and treatment standards with evidence based medicine, and input from patients. No more burning, suppressing and removing unrelated organs. IT's 2018, not 1018. #wematterACOG @ACOGAction @ACOG_AM… Click To Tweet

Our efforts to raise awareness on a condition as endometriosis is crucial for my future children and women that are to come after us. Below I have added a video from one of my Endo bestie and friend Kyla. Watch her truth and understand our actions. Because like they say, we are stronger in numbers!
